So it’s one in the morning and I’ve been in Egypt for 24 hours. I should be sleeping, but since I’m wide awake, I thought I’d do a quick photo journal of our trip and fill in some stories later:
all our luggage packed up, minus Josh’s guitar and the travel crib for Camille. It felt like the Monterey hillbillies were coming to Cairo. We had 9 checked bags, 5 backpacks, a carry on rolling suitcase and my purse.
Lining up at the counter to deposit our bags. Even though we checked in online they had to process everything at the counter. Good news: we were first in line. Bad news: we were first because we arrived 30 minutes before the counter even opened. With our pile of luggage and our slew of kids we were quite a sight, camped out on the floor of the airline terminal. We could have thrown up a few cots and made a home for ourselves, but we’ll talk more about cots later . . .
Riding the walkways while waiting for our flight. We were delayed because of snow in Germany . . . hmm, anyone see the writing on the wall? Not me, yet . . .
Did you know they have Best Buy vending machines? I didn’t either. You can buy ipod touches, Nintendo DS systems and games and a bunch of other electronic items. And they were approximately what you would pay in an actual Best Buy store, unlike our $50 lunch of sandwiches and 2 bottles of water.
We bought a 4 way headphone splitter so the kids could all watch the same movie or play games together and conserve battery life. You could also buy a battery booster, but we weren’t ready to shell out $30 for a little more battery life. We figured we’d recharge in Germany. ha ha.
