Photo bomb: Alexandria

I’m a writer, not a photographer, but if I wait around until I find the words for our trip, you’ll never get to see these . . . so, here we go.

Outside the Alexandria library. I’m sure he’s pouting because we said “no” to the souvenir coloring book he wanted. This kid found something he “had to have” everywhere we went. Glow in the dark mummy, plastic snow globe pyramid, cat on papyrus, alabaster eggs . . . and that’s just a list of things we bought.

Gorgeous library, supposedly. I wouldn’t know because they wouldn’t let me inside with the baby. I did get to see all the beautiful art exhibits on the main floor though.

We then caught a cab to see some famous pillar/sphinx sculpture.

We went from freak shows the day before to rock stars today. These school kids all wanted to shake our hands, ask our names and take pictures with us. They loved that Josh could speak Arabic to them.

The city has grown right up around these historic sites
