Driving Miss Robin

Ah, this is the life. Being chauffeured around Santa Cruz by my baby. He gets to fight traffic while I get to talk to him, send texts to the family, and write this blog post. We’ve come a long way since those early drives where I was hanging on for dear life hoping we weren’t going to fall off the edge of the road.

We’ve been here less than 24 hours and it’s already been worth every second of the million minutes it took to get here. Calvin and I went to coffee, shopped at the mall, and laughed at my amazement at the excess of stuff! and choices! and cheapness! of everything at Target. It’s our first Christmas in America in 8 years and I felt like an immigrant seeing it for the first time.

It’s great to be back with my baby, but getting to enjoy him rather than mom him. Lucky me!!

  1. Your family must be thrilled to have you home for Christmas! I was hoping for a picture of the reunion shot between the kids and Calvin. Happy dances all around. Give your folks a hug from me.

  2. Thanks Jan! I didn’t get a reunion photo because it was dark at the airport curb, but we’ve taken plenty of shots together since then. It’s been a great homecoming.
