Back in the day there were those souvenir t-shirts that said something like this: “My Grandma went to Disneyworld and all I got was this stupid t-shirt.” Well, my husband went to Bahrain and I got another gorgeous carpet!
Yes, my love was in Bahrain for work and went carpet shopping for me. He even brought an empty duffel bag to haul his treasure home. The question wasn’t if he would find a carpet, but which one?
Knowing he has excellent taste, I told him to pick whatever he liked, but he started sending me photos from inside the shop and I couldn’t resist shopping along with him.
As I was looking at the various carpet options, one caught my eye. Not the carpet featured in this photo (which I also liked), but I saw the squiggly scroll border on the one underneath and thought it might be a winner . . .
So I sent him back a screenshot asking, “What is this one?”
Well hello, my precious! Come to mama. Of course I would spot a Qashqai a mile away. In Josh’s defense, he had been looking at this style of carpet, but was trying to find something different than what we already had. But if we could only have one, this was the one.
It’s perfect. I smile every time I walk in the living room and am surprised by it. Even better is it was purchased at Bahrain prices — only $600.
I see new things every time I look at it — swans, crosses, pyramids, arrows, spades . . . the Where’s Waldo? of carpets.
